W2 construction

These clamps use W2 construction: a stainless steel band and housing paired with a zinc-plated steel screw. The combination gives good clamping force and solid corrosion resistance for automotive, mechanical and general workshop use, coolant hoses, low-pressure fuel and oil lines, air and vacuum lines, breathers, and light plumbing.

The plated screw is the limiting factor in wet or salt-laden environments.

Sizing

Clamping ranges refer to the outside diameter of the hose once it is fitted over the spigot not the hose bore. A 19 mm bore hose on a 19 mm spigot typically measures 26 28 mm on the outside depending on wall thickness, so it takes the 25 40 mm clamp rather than the 16 25 mm.
